Is a Desert Eagle a good gun for hunting?

Before i get a jack comment about video game guns I just wanna make it clear I do not play them and didn't know this was so popular til today when i was trying to find information on it. I personally prefer the revolver and hunt with a Taurus Tracker. There's just something about the ammunition this semi-auto shoots that make me want one. Everyone has told me that their overpriced garbage and I should stay away from Magnum Research. All I really want is a reliable semi-auto that shoots large caliber ammunition, and from what iv heard your not gonna find that in a Desert Eagle.
