Stinging on ONE SIDE of my Septum?

I pierced my septum about 8 or 9 days ago. I started cleaning it with ear care solution, salt water solution, and even Vitamin E (only because it worked for my lip piercing). It was healing pretty well, until now. The ring i used after I pierced it was too small, so I attempted in putting in a larger (not a larger gauge. I'm still using a 16. It was pierced with a 14.) sized ring, but chickened out, so I still have the small one in. I used to play with it and flip it in whenever I went home and some times at school. Anyway, now whenever I touch it, get hit in the face, or try to move/flip the ring, there's this INSANE stinging that only happens on the left side of my piercing. I think I might have torn it or something, but I'm not sure. And I don't think it's infected because it's not swollen or secreting anything weird. If you DON'T know anything about this, DO NOT answer. Thanks.
